The plea of residents at Abukrom, a farming community in the Wassa East Constituency of the Western Region has yielded positive result as the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah has cut sod for the construction of major bridge in the community that links other communities.
The sod cutting ceremony was attended by the Member of Parliament himself, Nananom, Wassa East Constituency NDC Executives, assembly members, party faithful and various youth groups from the community and its environs.
In a welcome address, the queen mother of Abukrom Nana Yaa Manu on behalf the chief and people of the town thanked the honorable Member of Parliament for his good intent and said she was very delighted to witness the occasion since the current status of the bridge is in a very deplorable state.
According to her, the issue of the bridge has been a major concern to Nananom and the residents they govern over the years and have reported to the Wassa East District Assembly but all their efforts yielded no positive results.
Cutting the sod for the commencement of the project, the Member of Parliament for Wassa East Constituency, Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah said, the bridge has been one of the urgent projects on his agenda.
He said, the construction and subsequent commissioning of the bridge will assuage the problems teachers, students and other residents go through whenever it rains, and also economic activities will be enhanced in the district.
“Other projects such as construction and completion of Nkapiem bridges, Abukrom toilet facility and Aborodzewuram Park, community center and finally storm drains will soon begin”, he stated.
The Member of Parliament also met the various Okada groups and asked them to vote massively for the NDC party since it is the only political party that have them at heart, and promised to help those who don’t have license acquire one.
