The claims made by hon. Kwasi Amoako Attah Mp for Atiwa west and minister for roads and highways that the NPP government has constructed more roads than any government after independence has made hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah Mp for wassa East constituency and former deputy minister for roads and highways come out with factual evidence of roads constructed by all government under the fourth republic

Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah says his government made a massive investment in roads as compared to the NPP’s first tenure of office.

Speaking on Sharp106.9fm Anopa Nkomo morning show, Hon Adjei Mensah confirmed that, he is not disputing the fact that, the NPP government in their fifth year of office have not constructed roads. He referenced to the 2014 budget, page 119, paragraph 578, the NDC in 2013 constructed 408km roads 21km trunk road, 374km feeder roads and 30km urban roads in four months.

“NDC invested more in roads. In our first year, second, third and final year, we constructed 474km, 1,470km, 2,794km, and 1,257km respectively which makes a total of 5995km under JDM in 2013-2016. Roads constructed under the Akuffo Addo government from first year in 2017, second, third, and fourth year were 699km, 390km, 1400km, 1752km respectively of which makes a total of 4,397km in their first term” he disclosed.

He again added that, NPP has not commissioned just a single project on their own, everything is ongoing since they came to office in 2016. Most of the roads touched by the NPP government were constructed under the Pres. Mahama’s term. The works done on roads by Akuffo Addo’s government are reshaping, gravelling and re-gravelling, upgrading and periodic maintenance.

Hon.Isaac Adjei Mensah confimed to Nana Banyin Paintsil host of Sharp fm’s morning show that, Prez. Mahama’s office constructed 50km asphalt roads in Sekondi- Takoradi i.e Beachroad, Amanful, Appollo to Nkroful, Sekondi township, Essikadu to Lands Commission, roads in Wassa East Constituency and many other urban roads in the metropolis all benefitted in the massive  roads constructed under JDM in his third year.
