The recent unexpected news that has caused a massive stir, debates, and arguments across all social media platforms was when the Chairperson for the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Mensah was finally exposed again over the use of Ghana cards as new voter identification cards ahead of the most anticipated 2024 presidential elections.
Speaking in a recent interview on the “Gumbe show” on TV XYZ, the National Communication Director for the largest opposition party (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi alleged that, the chairperson for the Electoral Commission of Ghana under the Akufo Addo-Bawumia administration is willing to put all hands on deck in other to help the ruling government break the 8 hence the introduction of the Ghana card to replace the voter’s identification card for voting come 2024.
In addition to this, Sammy Gyamfi took the opportunity to reveal that, the Electoral Commission had already put in place various measures to cancel the old voter’s register hence canceling the laws associated with that register in parliament the Ghana card for voting approach even though less than 15 million have gotten their cards so far.
“They are contemplating the possibility of a new register and that is very clear. Why would you even revoke the law you used in making the existing register? We will not allow the NPP to ‘break the 8’ with this approach”, Sammy Gyamfi emphatically revealed.
