Mr Isaac Adjei Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Wassa East Constituency has donated some items to the Wassa East District Health Directorate to support the fight against the coronavirus.

The items included 170 veronica buckets, 170 bucket stands, 3360 pieces of hand sanitisers, 125 liquid soap (5 liter), 170 washing basins, 5 infrared thermometers and 2,446 pieces of medicated soaps to help curtail the spread of the COVID-19.

Donating the items, the Member of Parliament noted that the donation was part of his efforts to support the fight against the coronavirus.

“For now, we don’t have any suspected case so we think that if we do this, it will go a very long way to restrain the virus from coming into the constituency” he noted.

He also reiterated that his team have identified strategic areas and institutions such as hospitals, health centers, CHIPS compounds, police stations, car stations, motor bike stations, recognized chiefs’ palaces, among others to benefit from his donation to afford them the facilities to control or prevent the virus from spreading to the constituency.

He also promised to make available information vans to go throughout the constituency to educate and sensitize people about COVID-19.

Receiving the donation, the officers in charge expressed their gratitude to the honorable MP for the donation and noted that, the items will be put into its judicious use.

Mr. Mensah promised that the next batch of the donation will include Personal Protection equipment (PPEs) and other logistics which will be used to support especially the front-line workers in the various health facilities. He also mentioned that he is collaborating with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital in Daboase to set up an isolation center to be utilized in the event of any suspected case of COVID-19.
