You And The President, Who Is Telling The Truth?- NDC MP

The member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency in the Western North region of Ghana, Honorable Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has hit hard on the Finance Minister live in Parliament.

It all started when the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta read some documents in Parliament to give some clarifications on how certain funds were spent. After his delivery, the speaker of parliament gave a chance to MPs to ask questions and also give their reactions on the statement which was read by the Honorable Minister.

Honorable Kwabena Mintah Akandoh stood up and revealed that there are some aspects of the Minister’s documents that show false statements. He explained and revealed the president of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo read similar statement in March, 2022 but what the Minister is reading something different to parliament. He asked Ken Ofori Atta to tell parliament that between him(Ken Ofori Atta) and the president, who is telling the truth.

“Mr speaker, this statement is the very reason why a nonpartisan committee must be set up to probe the entire expenditure on Covid-19. I will point to few inadequacies in the statement presented by the minuter of finance. This must not be entertained on this floor

Honorable Kwabena Mintah Akandoh read a statement in Ken Ofori Atta’s document to prove him wrong

“His excellency the president revealed during the SONA on 30th March, 2022 that we had mobilized about 17.7 billion since 2020. Mr. Speaker, that is not what the president said” he revealed.

Honorable Kwabena Mintah Akandoh again pulled up a document of the SONA and revealed that the president said that 17.7 billion has been spent and not mobilized.

“Why do you do this to parliament. Between you and the president, who is telling us the truth” he added.
